Montréal, Québec, Canada – Bombardier announced 2006-05-11 that it will begin negotiations with the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), for the renewal of metro cars for Montréal, following the decision of the Québec government.

“Bombardier is proud to have the opportunity to work once more on the Montréal metro, 30 years after manufacturing cars for Montreal,” said William Spurr, President, Bombardier Transportation, North America. “Once the contract is awarded, we have undertaken to guarantee a fixed and firm price for the product, as defined by the project office,” Mr. Spurr added.

The design, manufacture and assembly of the new Montréal metro cars will be undertaken at Bombardier’s facilities in St. Bruno and La Pocatière, Quebec.
