Bombardier Services intensifies its local rail maintenance presence further confirming Singapore’s attractiveness as a leading Asian hub

Bombardier today announced the expansion of its business presence in Singapore, with the opening of a new regional office for Bombardier Transportation’s Services division. The world’s biggest private sector maintainer of rail systems has chosen Singapore as its regional services hub to demonstrate its commitment to customers in Asia by providing quality after-market service and support. The local presence is led by Nick King who will be supported by a team of specialists brought together to harness Bombardier’s global capability in providing whole life services to rail transport products. Bombardier’s services to its clients include having strong O&M knowledge providing quality after care assurance backed by its global network of suppliers. This provides lower mean down times for train operators and lower rates of depreciation for asset owners.Nick King, Regional Head, Services, Bombardier Transportation said:”Singapore is the perfect platform for us to expand and provide a full suite of products to help our customers in Asia. Working in partnership with Bombardier provides real assurance for our clients giving them the secure knowledge they will always get a professional service throughout their assets’ lifetime while ensuring them greater revenues through lower operating costs. We are confident of enhancing train performance through our local Singapore hub which will continually add value to rail operators and asset owners in this region.”

Bombardier has had permanent head offices in Singapore since 2005 and over S$19 million was invested in setting up the Transportation headquarters in Asia. In 2008, 219 driverless BOMBARDIER MOVIA metro cars were ordered for the Singapore Downtown Line and deliveries are scheduled to be completed in 2017. The Singapore office is well represented by the business jet, regional aircraft, transportation systems, metro and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) systems business lines.
