Delcan wins America’s 2007 Best of ITS Award

Markham, Ontario, Canada – Delcan, an award winning, multi-disciplinary engineering, management and technology consulting firm is pleased to announce that its
California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) District 7 project to relocate the existing Traffic Management Center (TMC) to the new Los Angeles Regional Transportation Management Center (LARTMC) was awarded the Best of ITS award under the Partnership Deployment category. This award was presented at ITS America’s Annual Meeting & Exposition in Palm Springs, California in June 2007. ITS is the application of advanced technology to improve traffic flow by allowing agencies to respond to incidents more effectively and provide motorists with traveler information.

Delcan developed and implemented the plans to cutover the operational systems from the existing TMC in Los Angeles to the new LARTMC, as well as upgraded the existing Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) software to a new web-based ATMS system. The Delcan team provided operational and system requirements to the architectural design firm so that the building design properly reflected the spacing, electrical, HVAC, cabling, and communications needs of the Transportation Management Center Operations. Delcan’s cutover plan concentrated on minimizing and in most cases eliminating downtime for this critical system.
