EBRD names new Vice President, Finance

London, United Kingdom – Manfred J. Schepers has been appointed Vice President, Finance at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development after a 20-year career in investment banking.

In this role, Mr Schepers, a Dutch citizen, assumes responsibility for the EBRD’s Treasury Department, managing the Bank’s liquidity, its assets and liabilities, and running its borrowing programme on the international capital markets.

His responsibilities also include the management of the EBRD’s Strategic and Corporate Planning and Budgeting Department, the Controller’s Department, where the Bank’s financial reports are prepared, arrangement of syndicated loans, as well as the Information Technology Department.

Educated at the London School of Economics, Mr Schepers started his investment banking career with Bankers Trust. He moved to Swiss Bank Corporation in Asia in 1986 where he held the position of Head of Fixed-Income Distribution in Tokyo and Singapore. For over 10 years he was Global Head of Debt Capital Markets at SBC Warburg and then UBS in London and held the positions of Head of Credit Fixed-Income, Europe and Vice-Chairman, Fixed Income, Rates and Currencies, Europe.

Since 2004, Mr Schepers has been the Senior Managing Director and Head of the Bond Market Association, International (BMA) in London, overseeing the activities of the BMA in Europe, including the European Primary Dealers Association (EPDA), European Securitisation Forum (ESF) and the European High Yield Association (EHYA).

He takes up duties at the EBRD on 9 October 2006, replacing Steven Kaempfer, who served for eight years before leaving the Bank in May.
