ALSTOM: first train to Metro Los Teques in Venezuela

Saint Ouen Cedex, France – On July 30th 2006 the Governor of Miranda, Authorities of Metro Los Teques (the public operator of the line) and representatives of FRAMECA and ALSTOM celebrated the arrival of the first train of the future metro line of Los Teques.

This first delivery is part of a global €204 million project signed in September 2005, with a consortium led by ALSTOM, which share for the supply of 6 trainsets, traction electrification and part of the signaling is worth €90 million.

The Los Teques independent line completes the existing metro network for 9.8 km from Las Adjuntas to El Tambor on the outskirts of Caracas. The first track will be in service in October 2006 and the second, at the beginning of 2008.

ALSTOM has been a key supplier for the metro of the Venezuelan capital for the last 23 years and has so far delivered 600 cars for metro lines 1, 2, 3 and 4. The company also provided rolling stock midlife overhaul to 400 metro cars, as well as to power supply equipment of line 1.
