Successful 2nd Dissemination Seminar of InteGRail

Brussels, Belgium – InteGRail (Intelligent Integration of Railway Systems) is a four year integrated EU funded project regrouping 39 partners with a budget of about € 20 million coordinated by UNIFE, launched in January 2005. The project aims to develop a coherent information system integrating all major rail subsystems.

During the 2nd Dissemination Seminar held on 19th of April 2007 in Brussels the 50 participants from the industry, operators, public institutions and project partners got the opportunity to get more familiar with the project.

In four sessions the speakers gave an overall view on the project. In the first session the general needs of the railways were described, in the second session the speakers showed how InteGRail can meet these needs by the elaboration of so-called business scenarios and how these are turned into demonstration scenarios. In the third session the seminar focused on the presentation of the three demonstration scenarios. They were jointly defined by the Industries and the Railways in the previous months as a means to show how InteGRail can improve the performance of the railways. In the last session the audience contributed with interesting discussions and suggestions for further steps during the round table discussion, moderated by Mel Thomas, the Chairman of InteGRail.

The official Review with the European Commission is scheduled for 11th of June 2007.
