2nd European Road Congress 6-8 November 2006

Leaders to debate the future orientation of European Transport Policy

Brussels, Belgium – Over 500 transport professionals from all across Europe will gather in Brussels on 6-8 November 2006 for the 2nd European Road Congress: “Time for a New European Transport Policy”, organised by the European Union Road Federation (ERF).

Details
At this decisive moment for European Transport Policy, following the mid-term review of the European Commission’s 2001 Transport White Paper, the 2nd European Road Congress will provide a unique forum for road industry experts to interact with senior policy-makers and advance the debate on the future orientation of European Transport Policy.

Through interactive sessions with high-level specialists, the Congress will offer a state-of-the-art overview of European road policy issues. Programme highlights include:

  • Financing road construction and maintenance;
  • The enlargement of the European Union;
  • Infrastructure road safety; and
  • Intelligent roads.

The Congress will also offer an international perspective as European Transport Policy will be contrasted with policies being pursued in other regions, with interventions from senior representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Communications and the US Department of Transportation. As such, the 2nd European Road Congress constitutes a unique and much-needed experience-sharing platform for the road community, making it one of the most significant transport events of the year.
