Contracts for 15 New General Obligation

Bond Capital Roadway Projects Sent to Selected Firms

New Orleans, United States of America – The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works 2008-08-26 announced the selection of architectural and engineering firms for 15 new capital bonds projects.

"In order to increase the pace of our construction schedule, it is important to get these much needed new projects under way," said Robert Mendoza, Director of Public Works.

Funded by the 2004 General Obligation Bonds, the 15 new projects cover approximately 5.5 miles of roadway at a total cost of approximately $58 million. Fourteen of the projects are full reconstruction including new water, sewerage, drainage, sidewalks, and roadways surfaces. Two of the projects are rehabilitation projects, including spot utility repairs, sidewalks, and roadway resurfacing. Currently, the Department of Public Works has approximately 100 projects in the design phase.
