HOCHTIEF subsidiary builds in Australia, Dubai, India

Leighton to build two pipelines and a road project worth a total of EUR 157 million

Essen, Germany – HOCHTIEF‘s Australian Group company Leighton won an impressive three contracts worth a total of EUR 157 million in Australia, Dubai and India: In Australia, subsidiary Leighton Contractors will design and construct the Liverpool Ashfield Pipeline (EUR 76 million). In India, Leighton Asia (Southern) will install a crude oil pipeline (EUR 31 million), and in Dubai, the company will build a road project (EUR 50 million).

The Liverpool Ashfield Pipeline in New South Wales, Australia, covers a distance of 24 kilometers. Leighton Contractors‘ contract also includes amplification works and the design and construction of major pumping stations at Liverpool and Fairfield. The works will already start next week and are scheduled for completion in 2008. The client is Sydney Water Corporation.

In Cochin, India, Leighton Asia (Southern) will build an offshore crude oil pipeline for Kochi Refineries. The company is responsible for the installation of the 20-kilometer-long offshore pipeline, as well as a single point mooring at the end of the line. The construction works will commence immediately and are scheduled for completion in April 2007.

The contract Leighton Asia (Southern) won in Dubai is the company‘s first contract in the country. As joint venture, the Leighton subsidiary is responsible for the construction of 15 kilometers of roads in and around the City of Arabia development in Dubailand, an entertainment and leisure park. In addition to road building, the contract includes the construction of five bridges and underground services including drains, sewers, water mains and telecommunications. Leighton Asia (Southern) has a EUR 25 million share in the project. The client is the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group. Work will commence immediately and is due for completion in 2008.
