A dedicated merge lane has been introduced from the M62 westbound at Junction 10 to the M6 north and southbound, which will reduce the risk of accidents caused by weaving traffic and improve traffic flow.

The eastbound and westbound filter lanes have also been improved by new signing to improve safety.

Roads minister, Dr Stephen Ladyman said: "This is good news for users of this busy stretch of road and demonstrates the government’s continuing commitment to tackle congestion, improve safety and make journey times more reliable."
