Hofstade-Aalst, Belgium – Qatar Petroleum (QP) awarded
the contract to extend the existing LNG Port at Ras Laffan, Qatar to
Jan De Nul Group.

The contract being valued at 2 billion USD will be executed in a 50/50 joint venture with Boskalis.
The contract that is to be implemented within 36 months
will provide work for three heavy duty seagoing rock
cutter dredgers. Furthermore, the contract implies the
dredging of 20 million m³ of limestone, the reclamation
of 25 million m³ of offshore sand, the quarry and placing
of 18 million ton stone and the construction and placing
of 1 million m³ of concrete blocks. This project also
includes the construction of breakwaters that will protect
the new harbor. The total length of these breakwaters is
21 km and 1 million m³ of concrete are needed.
