New international division Railion

Christoph Wolff takes the helm for Railion’s international expansion

Berlin, Germany – Dr. Christoph Wolff, aged 46, will become a member of the Management Board of Railion Deutschland AG with effect from 1 May 2007. He will be taking responsibility for the newly established ‘International and Network Management’ division. All Railion’s ongoing internationalization projects will now come under his leadership. At the same time Dr. Wolff will take over the ‘International Projects’ office at DB Logistics, combining both roles. Dr. Norbert Bensel, Member of DB AG’s Board of Management responsible for DB Logistics, comments: “The extension of the Railion board marks our response to the customer’s expectations of steady improvements in international rail freight transport services. Only those who systematically improve their international networks on the basis of consistent quality standards will be partners for customers in order to realize joint growth ambitions.” Already today, more than 60 percent of Railion’s transport operations cross international frontiers.

Dr. Wolff studied mechanical engineering and economics in Aachen and Zurich. He has been working for McKinsey since 1992, where he became a partner in 1998, and was appointed Director of its German office in 2005. Since 2001 he has been responsible for McKinsey’s international ‘Rail, Shipping & Ports’ Practice, and has made a significant contribution to its expansion into Asia. In his earlier career, Dr. Wolff spent four years in the as a Professor of Operations Management and as CEO of a logistics software corporation. He is married with two children.
