Michael Clausecker Appointed General Director UNIFE

Brussels, Belgium – Michael Clausecker (40) takes over leadership of UNIFE, the Association of the European Railway Industry, as General Director effective from the 1st February 2007.

André Navarri, Chairman of UNIFE has welcomed the appointment: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Clausecker to the position of General Director of UNIFE. Michael is bringing an extensive experience of the Rail Industry acquired with Bombardier Transportation, Siemens TS and as Managing Director of the German Railway Industry Association (VDB).”

The Presiding Board and Drewin Nieuwenhuis have in mutual understanding agreed to end their co-operation. The UNIFE Presiding Board thanks Drewin Nieuwenhuis for his contribution to the development of UNIFE and welcomes Michael Clausecker in his new role.

Michael Clausecker was born 1966 in Stuttgart. After his studies in business economics and a first position at Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart, he moved quickly to the railway industry. In 1993 Mr. Clausecker had taken the chair of the management board of Waggonbau Niesky GmbH, a subsidiary of DWA Deutsche Waggonbau AG, later Bombardier Transportation. He had successfully led the plant through restructuring and to the leading position of the rail freight car manufacturers in Europe. He then became in 1999 Head of Division at Siemens with worldwide responsibility for locomotives. In 2001, he took over leadership of the Verband der Bahnindustrie in Deutschland (association of the railway industry in Germany) as its Managing Director.
