Cegelec: 2 Contracts electrification Moroccan railway

Paris, France – Cegelec, an international integrated group providing technological services to private companies and public authorit ies, has signed two new “turnkey” contracts with the National Office of Morocco Railways (ONCF) for a global amount of 20 million euros as part of the project for the electrification of the railway network linking the cent re and the north of Morocco.

The first contract concerns the const ruction of five electrical substations for the Msaada/ Ksar El Kebir section and the Sidi Hayia/ Mechraa Belksiri link. It has been signed today by Charles Carlier, Senior Vice President of Cegelec and Mohamed Rabie Khlie, General Manager of the ONCF, on the fringe of the meeting between the French and Moroccan Prime Ministers today in Paris, in the presence of several other ministers and businessmen from both count ries.

Cegelec has also concluded a second contract with regard to the electrification of some 150km of catenaries of the same two lines.

Cegelec is currently completing two other major projects for the ONCF, one of them concerning the laying of a second track between Fez and Meknes, and the other concerning a line between Jorf Lasfar and Nouaceur.

In addition to their own know- how acquired from many years working in this field, its Moroccan teams will be able to call upon the special skills of the Cegelec Group as far as transport infrastructures are concerned. These skills are grouped together in the form of a specialised ent ity, Cegelec Transport, which carries out its activities everywhere in the world.
