Jeremy Candfield Joins RSSB Board

London, United Kingdom – RSSB is owned by the rail industry and is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee. The Board serves to provide safety leadership to the industry. Membership is split into six categories representative of the industry it serves and each category is represented on the Board. Jeremy Candfield is the new industry non-executive director appointed by supplier members of RSSB.

Commenting on his appointment Jeremy said “RSSB has made much progress since its inception, and the value of its cross-industry contribution to the safety of the railway is widely recognised. I am delighted to be joining the RSSB Board”.

Jeremy Candfield is Director General of the Railway Industry Association (RIA), the organisation representing the UK railway supply industry, a post he has held since 1998. He is also President of the European Federation of Railway Trackwork Contractors. Originally a civil servant in what is now the Department for Transport, he was involved in the mid-80s and early 90s with finance for British Rail and then with light rail projects. He was subsequently an Executive Director of Union Railways throughout the period when the route of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link was determined and its Parliamentary powers obtained, before becoming Corporate Affairs Director of London and Continental Railways.
