Nexans wins a 4.8 million euro contract to supply infield umbilical for Ormen Lange North Field projectThis Ormen Lange project will add a fourth subsea production template (template C) around 6 km to the north of the existing main production area that contains three templates (A, B and D). The Nexans infield umbilical will be used to tie template C back to template B by supplying the hydraulic fluid, electrical power and fibre optic signals required to operate the subsea production systems located at a water depth of approximately 850 metres.

Nexans is in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the infield umbilical which will be manufactured at its specialized plant based in Halden, Norway. It is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2012.

“In 2004, Nexans was awarded the contract to supply the two 125 kilometres main umbilicals and the infield umbilical that are now playing a vital role in the successful operation of the subsea systems at Ormen Lange. So, we are happy to be working with Norske Shell again to extend our involvement with one of Europe’s most important gas field developments”, says Ragnvald Graff, Sales & Marketing Director, Energy Division, Nexans. “This contract is further recognition of our proven capability in the field to design, engineer and deliver on-time, complex high-technology umbilicals for the oil and gas sector.”
