Essen, Germany – Dr. Friedel Abel retires end of March 2007 / Henner Mahlstedt new CEO Henner Mahlstedt (53) will take over as Chairman of the Executive Board of HOCHTIEF Construction AG on April 1, 2007. This decision was taken at a meeting of the company‘s Supervisory Board today. Mahlstedt will succeed Dr. Friedel Abel (61) who will retire as planned as of the same date. With immediate effect, Mahlstedt will take on the post of Vice Chairman of the Executive Board.

The Supervisory Board has appointed Achmed Kadded (45) as a regular member of the Executive Board of HOCHTIEF Construction AG. Kadded has been an alternate member of the Board since September 2006.

The Supervisory Board thanked Dr. Abel for his commitment in building up HOCHTIEF Construction AG and in restructuring the company‘s construction activities in Europe. Abel has been at HOCHTIEF since 1972 and, from 1995 to 2001, held the posts of Executive Board member and Human Resources Director of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft. In July 2001, he became Chairman of the Executive Board of the newly established HOCHTIEF Construction AG.

Henner Mahlstedt has been with HOCHTIEF Construction AG since 2003, first as Divisional Manager and since 2005 as member of the Executive Board. On the Board, he is responsible for infrastructure business and for the company‘s international subsidiaries. Before joining HOCHTIEF, Mahlstedt occupied a number of executive positions at other construction companies.
