Top management appointments at NIB

The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) has appointed two new Management Committee members

Helsinki, Finland – Mr Lars Eibeholm (DK) has been appointed as Vice-President, Head of Treasury and CFO at NIB and he will begin his duties on 1 December 2007. He will head the Bank’s Treasury Department which is responsible for funding, portfolio management and asset and liability management. He joins NIB from Nykredit Bank A/S Copenhagen, where he currently works as Head of Treasury and Financial & Institutional Clients, and is responsible for funding, asset and liability management, as well as relationship banking. Before joining Nykredit Bank A/S in 1995, Mr Eibeholm also worked for Nykredit A/S and GiroBank A/S.

Mr Eibeholm succeeds Mr Torben Nielsen, who moved to Barclays Wealth in London as Managing Director earlier this year.

Mr Heikki Cantell (FI) has been appointed as General Counsel and head of the new Legal Department. He will join NIB in November. Mr Cantell joins NIB from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) in Paris, where he since 1995 has been working as General Counsel and Legal Director. During 1998-2001 he has also served as Director of Human Resources and General Services alongside his other duties. Before joining CEB, Mr Cantell worked as Legal Counsel for the Finnish Cultural Foundation and as an attorney-at-law both in Helsinki and Paris.

Mr Cantell succeeds Ms Siv Hellén, who has served the Bank as General Counsel since 1982. Ms Hellén announced earlier this year that she is applying for part-time retirement. She will continue as special counsel to the President, and establish and be responsible for the Bank’s new compliance function.

NIB is a multilateral financial institution owned by eight member countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The Bank finances private and public projects in and outside the member countries. NIB has the highest possible credit rating, AAA/Aaa, with the leading rating agencies Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.
