London, United Kingdom – Alan Stilwell, ICE Transport Board Chairman says
"ICE is dismayed that the Eddington review has failed to fully appreciate both the economic and environmental benefits of a high-speed rail link. At a time when the UK is seeking to reduce its carbon emissions, it is disheartening to for business and the public alike not to have an environmental alternative to domestic air travel"

ICE is one of the pre-eminent engineering institutions in the world. Established as a learned society in 1818, it has over 80,000 members and provides a voice for civil engineering, continuing professional development and promoting best practice throughout the industry.
