Efkon AG takes over Center Systems

Brussels, Belgium – ERTICO Partner Efkon has acquired Vienna-based Center Communication Systems GmbH, a leading specialist in mission critical communication systems used by executive authorities, security organisations, public transportation and industry. With the takeover, Efkon aims at a stronger international focus for Center Systems and synergies for product and services innovation in both companies.

Efkon notes that the core competencies of Center Systems are the design, development, sale, assembly and service of analogue and digital radio systems – including terminal equipment. Its key areas are control rooms, alarm systems, radio systems for tunnels, buildings and mines, radio telephony, data transmission, TETRA and terminal equipment, and it is also a service centre for Motorola cell phones.

Efkon CEO Dr Helmut Rieder stated, "We are impressed by the development of systems and components as well as convergence of radio and computer applications, one of the core competencies of our new member. Center Systems products and know-how will complement our business areas in a perfect way. We pursue product innovation where the outcome is cutting edge in all aspects, which now also includes the knowledge of Center Systems."

Thanks to the acquisition, the total staff of Efkon has now reached 450, with more than 900 people employed by the Efkon Group.
