Smart and innovative thinking will be rewarded at the world’s largest – and best attended – trade fair for the infrastructure, ITS traffic management, safety and parking sectors (March 27-30, 2012), when the winners of the 2012 Intertraffic Innovation Awards will be revealed. An international jury has carefully and meticulously studied the candidates and after detailed analysis and intense deliberation has shortlisted 14 final entries. Sectoral awards will be presented in five categories: ‘Infrastructure’; ‘ITS Traffic Management’; ‘Safety’; ‘Parking’; and ‘Smart Mobility’. And in addition to the Overall Winner Award, for the first time Intertraffic will also hand out an Urban Sustainable Mobility Award.

Shortlisted companies for the ‘Infrastructure’ category

· Langmatz GmbH, Bluemove light pole (Germany – Stand 11.413)

This e-mobility charging point is installed directly onto a lighting system, the result being no brickwork or additional housing is required. The system contains intelligence to connect to an outside charging pole management system and is able to manage the light on-off settings where needed. A power enhancement tool for increased electric power distribution via the lighting infrastructure is also available.

· Trysil Maskin A/S, Trafficprinter (Norway – Stand 1.204)

Trafficprinter is a truck-mounted printer for thermoplastic paint. The automated system is able to print all kind of symbols and signs onto the road.

· W.D.M. Limited, TM2 (United Kingdom – Stand 11.130)

The TM2 mini texture meter is an alternative to the traditional volumetric ‘patch’ test. It measures in real-time the road profile transversely over a 100mm width to provide Sensor Measured Texture Depth (SMTD) and Mean Profile Depth (MPD) over 1m, 10m and 50m averages. TM2 operates for 10 hours, utilising a touch-panel PC, and is the effective solution for newly laid asphalt and/or resurfacing.

· Peek Traffic Solutions, ImFlow (The Netherlands – Stand 10.101)

ImFlow is a policy-based adaptive urban traffic control system that is easy to configure and builds directly on the policies of a city. The uniqueness of ImFlow is its real-time adaptive algorithm that automatically translates the configured policies into optimal flow.

· Andrews & Wykeham, High Security RFID Windscreen Label (UK – Stand 5.333)

A windscreen label combining high-security e-beam holography with enhanced performance long-range UHF RFID.

· Trinité Automation, SCM (The Netherlands – Stand 9.215)

SCM is a distributed approach for simple and understandable overview of hundreds of traffic-related network scenarios. By dividing an area into subnetworks and defining situations, through the use of SCM, different road authorities are able to manage a traffic network together. The number of predefined scenarios is significantly reduced and conflicting services can be managed based on priorities.

Shortlisted companies for the ‘Parking’ category

· SCANACAR, SCANaCAR Scanscooter (The Netherlands – Stand 3.313)

Enforcement of parking regulation on a scooter. Reliable scans of 600-1,200 cars an hour, regardless of how they are parked (left or right) of the Scanscooter. The solution is ideal for enforcement in inner cities and more spacious areas, as well as for immediate follow-up by parking attendant who remains visible and accessible to the public.

· Car Parking Technologies, SmartGuide (New Zealand – Stand 3.409)

Wireless Parking Guidance system that requires no data cabling, in doing so reducing installation costs. Each bay is additionally monitored using infrared technology from beneath the vehicle for greater accuracy than traditional overhead ultrasonic systems. Signs are also wireless to reduce deployment costs. A full real-time reporting management using heatmaps is part of the solution.

Shortlisted companies for the ‘Safety’ category

· Olvia, ARENA Multitarget (Russia – Stand 1.218)

ARENA MT simultaneously monitors up to four lanes of traffic in both directions and measures the speed of all vehicles in the control zone. Enforcement images of the violators and their numberplates are captured automatically.

· Kapsch TrafficCom AG, IDS ACC – Automatic Camera (Austria – Stand 11.715)

With ACC, Automatic Incident Detection (AID) specialists at Kapsch have introduced a new and easy way of calibrating on-highway cameras (tunnels, open road tolling, etc) for Kapsch’s Incident Detection System. Calibrating AID cameras has traditionally been a complicated, lengthy and costly process. Not only is this system much quicker (10km of tunnel can be calibrated in just two hours as opposed to 35-40 hours), accuracy is claimed to be 10 times greater.

· Neurosoft, NeuroCar RedLight (Poland – Stand 9.200)

NeuroCar RedLight is a cost-effective and easily deployed computer-based system incorporating intelligent algorithms, image and video processing for automatic detection and identification of red-light running offences. The system obtains all of the necessary numberplate details for a successful prosecution as well as identifying the colour, make and model of the violating vehicle.

Shortlisted companies for the ‘Smart Mobility’ category

· DTV Consultants, From5to4 (The Netherlands – Stand 9.300)

From5to4 is the mobility ‘game’ that stimulates employees to commute one working day in a smart way. By travelling and working more smartly, employees secure points. This new way of approaching personal mobility choices has had a positive effect on the travel behaviour of the contestants, has raised awareness, as well as generating a travel behaviour database.

· Trinité Automation, TrafficLink 2.0 (The Netherlands – Stand 9.215)

This system allows different suppliers to work together and enables automatic tuning between different road authorities. Innovative software combines different types of measuring systems and is able to control all kinds of roadside systems regardless of their supplier. The system is available online and offers reliable and surveyable information for the optimisation of traffic flow.

· Intav, RevoLUXion (Italy – Stand 5.436 )

Rotating beacon with mechanical device moving a reflector around a bright source of three LEDs offers high-performance technology and is available at a much reduced price than Xenon-based beacons. This simple and reliable idea is multivoltage and features a tension regulator, silicon belt and steel ball-bearing. The LEDs offer up to 50,000 hours of maintenance-free operations.
