Arcadis expands environmental activities to Switzerland
ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), a leading international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, today announced that it has acquired BMG Engineering AG (BMG), an environmental services company based in Zurich, Switzerland. BMG has almost 50 employees, gross revenues of €8 million and net revenues of €7 million. ARCADIS acquires the shares from management who will all stay with the business. BMG has a good track record of profitable growth. Further financial details were not disclosed.

BMG was established in 1989 as a spin-off from a major Swiss chemical company to specialize in environmental remediation projects. In addition the company provides consultancy services in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship (REACH). BMG predominantly works for private sector clients and has strong client relationships with some of the major Swiss multinational chemical and pharmaceutical companies. ARCADIS has successfully worked together with BMG on environmental projects over the last 5 years.

ARCADIS Executive Board member Friedrich Schneider said: “Our goal is to be the leading environmental services provider in the world and with the acquisition of BMG we create a strong platform for growth in the attractive Swiss environmental market. We believe our highly developed environmental technology further strengthens the market position of BMG. In addition, we get direct access to major multinational clients in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields which can lead to work outside of Switzerland.”

André Bachmann Chairman of the board of BMG said: “We have ample experience in working with ARCADIS in the environmental field and were always impressed by their solutions to which we now will have direct access. I believe this step will strongly benefit our market position and will allow us to be involved in larger, more complex projects. In addition, I believe that this will also provide further development opportunities for our staff.”
